Greetings to whoever is reading this.

My name is Jackson Wild and I recently wrote my first book, called Soldier, about the First World War. I was born in Johannesburg, South Africa. I then, at the age of five, moved to England, with my mum, dad and brother. I live in South East London and I’ve lived here for five years.

As I’m sure you all know, in late 2019 and early 2020, we began to go into lockdown. This dulled me, what with homeschooling and not being able to go and play with my friends. However, around October 2020 I got interested in war. Maybe it was because I was interested in my ancestors who’d fought in the war, or maybe it was just plain curiosity. I started to go on websites and play war games on Roblox. And eventually, I had this idea to write a story called Soldier about the Great War. In a way it’s to honour my ancestors, Fritz, Otto and Walter Veit. The last one died in the last few months of the war when he was only 18. Or it might’ve just been to show the horrors of warfare.

As I’m a debut writer and only a child, ten at that, I haven’t found an agent or publisher. So it’s been my dad who’s edited this and found a printer for me. But if there is someone you know and they’ve said yes, or maybe you are that someone, if you like you can contact me on handsomejackson1@gmail.com. Just to let you know. Another book is in the making and it’ll be called, Fortune Favours the Brave.

You can also buy Soldier here. I hope you do.
